MegaColor FTP
Instructions
In order to better serve you we have created a
new utility for uploading files to our FTP site. We hope that you find
this new procedure easier and more convenient to work with. Your comments
are greatly appreciated!
FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
• File
transfer will be faster if you remember to stuff or zip your files.
Compression will reduce file size by approximately 50%, so a 40-megabyte
file becomes approx. 20 megabytes. Compression will not harm your
files, in-fact it helps to protect files from corruption during transmission. If
you do not have compression software, the following are links for
freeware and/or shareware compression utilities.
• Disk Submission Form - This
is a required form to get your job moving quickly in our system. Tell
us what you are sending to us. Are you using Quark or Pagemaker? Have
you done everything on our checklist? Follow this guide and send it
to us with your disk. This form can be found at MEGA FORMS.
*** There is an additional $25 service charge if this form is not filled
out. For your convenience, you can email form to art@megacolor.com.

• Collecting Files: The
first thing you will need to do is; collect all the files that you
intend to send to us into one folder. Please label this folder with our
job number (file and folder names should be no longer
than 32 characters and should only include letters or numbers - no
extraneous characters; i.e. !@#$%^&*()?}{|+=* etc.).
Also include in this folder, a READ-ME note containing;
your company name, contact name, contact phone number and our job number
(if a job number has not been assigned to you, please contact your MegaColor
sales person before sending files, as you will be prompted to give your
job number during the upload process).
Compress this folder using your compression utility.
• Sending Files:
Go to www.megacolor.com select FILE
UPLOAD (located on the top menu bar).
First you will be prompted to select
your MegaColor sales rep’s name. If you do not see your
sales rep select OTHER (at the bottom of the
sales rep list). After you have selected your sales rep, you
will need to enter your MegaColor job number (given to you by
your MegaColor sales rep).
Once you have selected your sales rep’s
name and entered your job number, select the BROWSE/CHOOSE button,
locate and select the compressed file that you would like to
send to us. Then hit the UPLOAD button.
Remember that FTP file upload times vary; they are
determined by modem speed, ISP capacity and other factors.
E-mail
Your files may be submitted, to us, via e-mail as long as the file do
not exceed 15 megabytes. Our
e-mail address is art@megacolor.com.
Please be sure to include our job number in the subject
line. If you do not have a job number please contact your sales person
prior to submitting files. Unspecified files will be left untouched until
we are given the correct information (i.e. job number/sales rep/customer
name.
Remember, e-mail transfer time varies; it is affected
by modem speed, ISP capacity and other factors.
